About
About Aryeh Zev Narrow
Narrow? Very Broad. Here are some of the hats I’ve worn over the years…
- IT – Many moons ago, I was in tech support. Like, many.
- Journalist – Writer and editor for numerous Jewish magazines and newspapers
- List broker – Operated a list agency brokering over 600 Jewish mail and email lists, including the world’s largest lists of Jewish consumers and Orthodox Jews.
- Copywriter (since before it was cool) – Besides learning on the job (and in the School of Hard Knocks), I taught myself direct marketing style from the classic texts by Claude Hopkins, John Caples, David Ogilvy, et al.
- Extensive knowledge of the publishing industry, including print and distribution
- Worked for book, magazine and newspaper publishers. (First job: assistant to the editor of Forbes Magazine)
- Ran a (nonprofit) Jewish book publisher for more than ten years
- Edited more than 30 books. Author of Ohr Avigdor Tomer Devorah (Simchas Hachaim Publishing, 2024)
Mentored by some of the world’s top copywriters
Robert Kaplan, copywriter in the famed Ally & Gargano agency, once ran the advertising for companies like Ford, TWA and Samsonite. Robert was a dear friend who spent hundreds of hours teaching me what makes copywriting and advertising effective.
After Robert passed away in 2016, I hired Aharon Pinchas Grundman to mentor me in all my marketing projects. Aharon is a protégé of legendary direct marketing copywriter Eugene Schwartz and a copywriter for Bottom Line and Agora. He critiqued all my copy and coached me on all my marketing campaigns.
From Robert and Aharon I learned much more than just how to write great copy: I learned how to think like the prospect and understand what motivates them.
